We asked expert Ira Lysa, a New Jersey-based fashion designer, tailor, and CEO of Imperial Alterations, who has more than 15 years of creating elegant, body-flattering silhouettes, to share why draped maxi dresses are so trendy right now

Lightweight, stretchy fabric smooth against the skin

Refined enough for special occasions yet versatile enough for countless events, this dress is one you'll reach for again and again

For as long as I can remember Ive never been one to wear much color, especially in the cooler months

The V-neckline and criss-cross back create a stunning silhouette, while the unique shell wave knotted detail adds a touch of beachy elegance

Comfort first: Dont spend the night tugging at something too tight or too short
