Unusually, hes wearing a gold earring in his right ear along with a brooch and a gold ring. In his right hand, hes also holding a fancy cigarette holder which is quite prominently painted. His outfit fits the style of the 1870s when coats were sometimes paired with lighter coloured trousers and bowties pointed downwards. We purchased the portrait from a
