Green and red also have good ways to buff creatures, so you can play something like a Giant Growth on your creature before combat then double its power again
Notice that the replacement chain (and, thankfully, this silly dialog!) stops right here
In a morph format its even better, seeing as you can give morphs -2/-2 and still keep the Bane around
