lulling but liminal
Their trademark abrasiveness is still present
on EMI's Parlophone label
Distorted echo and thunder mix together with enough clean guitar lines and addictive choruses to deliver an album that recalls the '60s without sounding like anything created during that decade

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92 2LP xx1997 lulling but liminalI know Aphex Twin wears many hats but the Chris Cunningham directed music videos that were the point of exposure for many really mischaracterized Richard's general mode of operation. What we have here on his debut long player is an interesting and listenable fusion of Acid House with simple Satie like melodies and spaciousness. Proper nods to Chicago, Detroit and 808 State.
