Some things to consider when making a deck around Basim Ibn Ishaq as a commander are as follows: Basim is Dimir (blue and black) His mana value is two He works well with historic spells (artifacts, legendary spells, and Sagas) He can draw you cards and can evade blockers, getting +1/+1 counters on connection With these notes in mind, Basim appears to work best as a commander dealing with artifacts
Many of the best of these are very pricey for decks with a casual budget like the Commander Classic Jeska's Will that exiles three for the turn only for a cheap three mana or you can make a bunch of mana equal to your foe's hand count or both if you control your Commander
With certain playgroups, I'd slot this in without any other discard support
Once the set was released, however, we were left disappointed, as while many fan favorites from the region made their debut, the numbers were very few
