Gavin Verhey, Principal Game Designer of Magic and Lead Designer of this set, has been a Final Fantasy player his whole life and branded this set as the most special Magic set he ever worked on. The set is designed to be drafted, and is also the first Universes Beyond set to be Standard legal, making it the 105th expansion of Magic: the Gathering
