Today I wanted to take a step back and review a classic effect of the game ever since the first set gave us the iconic card Fog
Flusterstorm only counters instants or sorceries, Swan Song only does all of that and enchantments too (and creates a 2/2 bird that is definitely swinging your way), while Spell Pierce does not work when your opponents have mana up
They occupy an important design space between creatures and enchantments that gives them their own unique flavor and mechanics
Every time that you cast a noncreature spell, you can flicker a nonland permanent that you control
It also means that some powerhouse cards, like Witch-king of Angmar, who can force your opponents to sacrifice creatures and even become indestructible, didnt quite make the cut
The problem, though, is that given how everything looks in the art, it gets very difficult to tell what's going on in the game and the draft itself
