The basic version of the card is essentially worthless: it's just not a very good card in competitive magic

Vault Robber Getting rid of creatures in your yard for treasures is a decent trade off, but I'm quite shocked you can't do other peoples graveyards, or perhaps a triggered ability when it deal combat damage to a player that then lets you exile for a card or some such
It does seem however those Wizards will do their own follow-up investigations if they believe there is more to the situation than a simple mistake
(To mill two cards, a player puts the top two cards of their library into their graveyard.) The card you put on top of your library, if any, may be one you just milled, or it can be one that was already in your graveyard
