That extra toughness helps your armies survive when you attack, plus this white creature has a mana sink thatll give you more tokens
This makes flanking excellent for removing 1/1 creatures that would otherwise chump-block your attacker, as well as killing those X/1 deathtouch creatures before they can deal any damage
Alternatively you can use it to abuse enters/leaves triggers from your own creatures
