Each standard-legal set since Ikoria (except Core 2021 ) features 2-5 Commander decks, as the Commander format has become one of the most popular ways to play Magic, releasing preconstructed commander decks with every set allows for the creation of cards unique to the format that are thematically tied to the setting of their respective expansion, as well as giving more options to new players who want to try Commander
And in its own way the mythology IP port into MTG with Theros served a similar purpose, tying Magic back to its Arabian Nights roots as a plunderer of old stories while struggling with the inevitable adolescence of its own IP
Thanks to synergies with Agathas Soul Cauldron a lot of players are interested in Loot for more than just combo shenanigans
The new twist with these decks is that they are based on completely new legendary creatures from familiar planes, all with a four-color identity
Land one of these on some one for X = 3 or more where the board is pretty even and it is really hard to lose
